LifeSet participants visit Tenn. DCS Commissioner and meet Gov. Lee

Nov 19, 2020 | Blog

Six young people participating in LifeSet in middle Tennessee met with Commissioner Jennifer Nichols and Mohamed El-Kaissy, assistant commissioner of Finance/Budget, this week to tell them more about the program and how it has impacted their lives.

The meeting was very moving. Erica who aged out of foster care and is currently a first-year college student at Jackson State Community College told the commissioner:  “LifeSet saved my life.” Youth Villages is supporting Erica through LifeSet and our LifeSet Scholar program. She plans to get a four-year degree in nursing.

Later the young people toured the Capitol and met with Gov. Bill Lee who told the young women how proud he is of their accomplishments.

In Tennessee, Youth Villages provides LifeSet, a comprehensive program that becomes the bridge from foster care to adulthood for participants and case management for the state’s extension of foster care.
