Mentors are more than friends to our children. Mentors to children on our residential campuses are often the only visitor and the first positive adult role model our children have ever had. Our foster care mentors know that they are helping children and youth at a critical time when lives can be changed forever.
By showing they care, mentors give children with emotional and behavioral problems reasons to smile, work on their treatment and hope for a brighter tomorrow. In return, mentors know that that they personally are changing the trajectory of a child’s life.
Here’s what some of our mentors says about the experience:
"Being a grown up, sometimes you forget to have fun. You get so busy with the things you have to do; you don't just go and have fun. That's what mentoring is, going out and having fun."
"The cute little girls and younger boys are easy to match. I want to mentor someone who really needs me."
"Seeing my mentee, I have really learned the meaning of hope."
Become a mentor. It may be the most rewarding thing you ever do.
