Youth Villages YVLifeSet
Youth Villages YVLifeSet is contracted through DHS to provide a continuum of independent living services for youth who are in DHS custody or have aged out of DHS custody. YVLifeSet provides services to young adults age 17-21. The young adults are assigned to a YVLifeSet Specialist who has a caseload of 8 to 10 individuals.
The YVLifeSet specialists assist the young adults with transitioning to living independently by working toward goals related to completing education, obtaining employment, locating safe and stable housing, increasing money management skills, and accessing independent transportation, among other independent living related needs. The young adults enrolled in the program also receive individual mental health counseling from the YVLifeSet Specialist when applicable. The YVLifeSet specialists meet with the young adults in the community, no less than one time per week, to assist with goals the young adult has identified they want to work on. This is a partnership rather than a specialist directed process. The YVLifeSet specialist is available to the youth 24/7 for crisis response and management. I have included a flyer for our program that has further information regarding the services and assistance YVLifeSet can offer.
We would love to work with any individuals 17-22 who are currently in DHS custody or who have aged out of DHS custody that you might know or who you have worked with in the past who could use help in this very important and difficult transition period in life.
