Youth Villages serves families in Florida through intensive in-home services
Youth Villages expanded into Florida in 2008 after the state received a Title IVE waiver from the federal Department of Health and Human Services. This waiver allows Florida’s child welfare department to utilize its main funding streams more flexibly to serve more children in community/home-based settings as opposed to traditional foster care or other out-of-home placements.
The state identified Youth Villages’ Intercept program as a service option that could be provided through the flexible use of these dollars. We now provide in-home services through offices in Lakeland and Miami.
Success in Florida
Youth Villages programs work in Florida. Based on research conducted one year post-discharge,* of the children from Florida who have received at least 60 days of service:
- 71% of youth are at home with family
- 81% of youth report no trouble with the law
- 86% of youth are in school or have graduated
