Brain Based Services

Youth Villages-Inner Harbour Campus offers new, leading-edge brain-based services for troubled youth ages 5-21 who have significant developmental challenges, neurological and cognitive issues or neurodevelopmental disorders.

Neurodevelopmental disorders addressed include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism, Asperger’s, PDD)
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Organic Brain Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
  • Severe ADHD and other impulsive/explosive behaviors

Brain-based services may include:

  • EEG/QEEG Assessment
  • EEG Neurofeedback
  • Pre/Post Measurable Outcomes
  • HeartMath
  • Emotion Recognition and Communication Programs
  • IVA: Continuous Performance Test for Med Management
  • Cognitive Enhancement Software
  • Alpha-Stim/CES
  • Auditory Visual Stimulation

General services may include:

  • Social Skills Groups
  • Life Skills & Vocational Instruction
  • Individual, Group & Family Therapies
  • Psychiatric Evaluation
  • Psychiatric Medication Management

Experiential therapies may include:

  • Brain Gym
  • Equine Therapy

  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists
  • Licensed Nursing Staff (24-hour coverage)
  • Licensed Certified Teachers
  • Masters Level and Licensed Therapists
  • Recreational Therapists
  • Experienced Mental Health Professionals

Clinical approval for these services requires one or more of the following conditions:

  • DSM-IV-R diagnosable mental disorder
  • IQ 50 and above
  • Significant neurodevelopmental challenges, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Organic Brain Syndrome and Communication/Speech/Language Disorders
  • Child or adolescent exhibits behaviors that are dangerous to self or others
  • History of failed or insufficient treatment or inaccessibility of outpatient treatment
  • Unmanageable behavior in the home

Evidence of severe dysfunction within the community or school system

Youth Villages is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully. We help more than 22,000 children and families each year from more than 20 states and Washington, D.C. Our Evidentiary Family Restoration® approach involves intensive work with the child and family, a focus on measuring outcomes, keeping children in the community whenever safely possible, and providing accountability to families and funders. The EFR approach produces lasting success for children with success rates twice that of traditional services at one-third the cost of traditional care.
