Ropes Courses

The Youth Villages Inner Harbour ropes course is a combination of vertical challenges and horizontal challenges.

The course provides a great opportunity for our youth to learn about risk taking, one’s perceived limits, performing under pressure, giving and receiving support from other people, and how working with others collaboratively can help an individual achieve more than they thought they could accomplish.

Our ropes course places youth in situations in which they must trust others and allow themselves to break down the protective internal walls they have built to shield themselves from abuse, neglect, abandonment, and a negative sense of self.

The course helps the individual achieve higher self esteem, a sense of self worth, and focus – all vital qualities when helping children and adolescents who have trouble talking about their problems in a traditional group therapy setting.

About Us
Youth Villages is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully. We help more than 22,000 children and families each year from more than 20 states and Washington, D.C. Our Evidentiary Family Restoration® approach involves intensive work with the child and family, a focus on measuring outcomes, keeping children in the community whenever safely possible, and providing accountability to families and funders. The EFR approach produces lasting success for children with success rates twice that of traditional services at one-third the cost of traditional care.
