Assessment Program

The Assessment Program at the Youth Villages-Germaine Lawrence Campus is one of New England’s most important resources to help girls get their lives back.

For girls ages 12-18, we custom design a package of assessments to address each girl’s challenges. Students are with us typically for 45-90 days, on a day or residential basis, during which they attend our approved school, undergo a full battery of assessments and receive comprehensive therapeutic services.

The 45-Day Assessment Program at the Youth Villages-Germaine Lawrence Campus accepts girls ages 11-18 with a broad range of emotional, behavioral and learning challenges. Girls typically spend 45 calendar or school days at our campus while undergoing a comprehensive set of customized assessments. Based on each girl’s unique diagnostic picture, our staff deliver specific and actionable follow-up care recommendations.

Assessments
Assessment services include:

  • Psychosocial assessments
  • Psychological and neuropsychological testing
  • Psychiatric and psychopharmacological evaluations
  • Educational assessments
  • Behavioral assessments
  • Trauma screenings
  • Substance abuse evaluations
  • Eating disorder risk-and-needs assessments

Comprehensive Individual and Family Therapy
Girls in our assessment program receive individual, group and family therapy. Master’s-level clinicians use cognitive behavioral approaches to teach girls how to learn new skills related to making decisions, coping with stress and solving problems. Trauma-informed treatment is incorporated into our clinical work, milieu therapy and education programs.

Family therapy is a crucial component of treatment at the Youth Villages-Germaine Lawrence Campus, helping assess a family’s particular strengths and challenges. Family therapy also helps parents and guardians learn the unique ways they can coach their daughter to apply at home and in the community the skills she learns in treatment.

School and Educational Support
Girls may either attend our licensed school program, which meets the requirements of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks/Common Core, or work independently on their academic work from their referring school district.
