Education is crucial for the boys who come to the Youth Villages Boys Center for help. All Youth Villages schools are accredited, enabling children to earn regular or special education high school diplomas. Classrooms look and feel like rooms in regular schools, but the education curriculum is adjusted to each student’s unique educational needs. In addition to helping students develop academically, Youth Villages teachers focus on engaging students in learning and accepting classroom rules to prepare them for their return to regular school.
Through a mobile computing lab donated by Microsoft, the boys are able to work on technology and research skills - critical components in today's educational curriculum.
We make an extra effort to help children catch up academically and gain confidence in a classroom setting. Many of the children who come to us are years behind in basic reading and math. At Youth Villages, education is highly individualized and teachers focus on helping each boy learn both academic and classroom behavior skills.
