The center provides intensive residential treatment for children and youth who must be treated in a closely supervised environment because they suffer from the most serious emotional and behavioral problems, such as suicidal or self-harming conditions, psychotic symptoms, sexual behavior problems and behavioral issues complicated by chronic medical problems.
All of the center’s features are self-contained within 44,000 square feet of locked space.
Four distinct courtyards allow boys to be grouped together therapeutically. The children's rooms are arranged around light-filled atriums and overlook the lake and surrounding woods.
The central dining area, the nursing and medical clinic, and the state-accredited school all provide destinations outside of the spacious courtyard living areas – yet are safely contained within the building.
The center includes plenty of secure outdoor space for recreation, as well as a chapel and private family meeting areas.
