Holiday Heroes fill a child's wish list by shopping for and wrapping gifts for a child or by making a donation of $75 to the Youth Villages Holiday Heroes program. Wish lists will be provided. To become a Holiday Hero to our children in any of our service areas, please contact Peter Abell.
The Youth Villages Educational Department is looking for dedicated volunteers that will advocate for our student's educational rights during the course of the year. Advocates will receive a 30 minute training prior to student placement to become certified. The advocate will be notified 14 days in advance, through mail or email, about a child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting in which you will need to attend (1 time per year). Here, the Educational Advocate will be updated on the child's goals and educational progress. Meetings last approximately 1hour. We encourage our Educational Advocates to visit the child on regular basis just to say "hi" and see how they are doing.
Our new Girl's Center in Bartlett, TN is looking to start an exciting leadership based program with the assistance of Girl Scouts Heart of the South. We are looking for a qualified Girl Scout Leader, or volunteer that would like to become certified, to lead these types of activities. Girl Scout volunteers help empower young ladies to become leaders in their own lives and their communities by helping them discover themselves and their values, connect with others, and take action to make a difference. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
If you would like to work with girls, carry out activities, or become a role model; Youth Villages and Girl Scouts has the volunteer opportunity you are looking for. Use your time, your talents, and your skill to make the difference in the life of a girl by becoming a volunteer today.
Girl Scouts is building leaders one girl at a time.
The monthly Volunteer Venture is a great way to find out what volunteering with the children of Youth Villages is all about. This event also is perfect for those who are not able to volunteer on a regular basis but still enjoy spending time with our children. At the Venture, volunteers engage with our kids in fun group activities organized by our staff. Volunteer Ventures take place the first Saturday of every month, from 9:30 to 11:00, at our Bartlett Campus. Contact Megan Hulgan to attend our next Volunteer Venture: 901.251.4826.
Birthday Heroes brighten children's lives by engaging regularly in fun activities with them and celebrating their special day with cake, soft drinks, gifts and games. Birthday Heroes are groups of two or more coworkers, friends, sorority sisters, fraternity brothers, youth or church group participants who commit to adopting a cottage on our Bartlett or Dogwood Village campuses or one of our group homes for monthly or semimonthly volunteer activities and celebrating children's birthdays.
Volunteers can Adopt-A-Cottage on one of our residential campuses or a group home for regular activities. This group project is perfect for two or more volunteers who like to visit our children weekly, twice a month or monthly.
Youth Villages holds three large Special Events each year: Soup Sunday in February, the Youth Villages 5k Run/Walk in April and our Family Fun Fest and Fishing Rodeo in June. There are also other events from time to time. The success of these fund-raising events depends greatly on the support from volunteers who help with setting up, supervising the children's areas, serving and warming food, selling tickets, cleaning up and more. It's a great way to get involved by yourself or with your family, a group of coworkers, church friends or others.
Join Youth Villages as we celebrate 20 years of helping children and families with a Memphis-themed "opoly"-style board game. A great gift for kids and game aficionados of all ages, the game is $34.99, and all proceeds benefit the children of Youth Villages.
