Art Contest for Mentees!:
Mentors, we are challenging your mentees to create the design for the next thank you cards we mail you. We know  how much the mentees want to say thank you, and how much you love to hear it from them! By October 31, mentees can sumbit their entries. Contact your mentor liaison for the entry form!

Laptop Library: Don't forget about the Laptop Library! Our friends at Dell and Best Buy provided us with a wonderful grant to provide laptops, games, educational software and movies for mentors to borrow for use as a mentoring activity. While supplies last, we'll even throw in a free gift card to a restaurant where you can use the computers when mentors borrow one. All you have to do is be a mentor for at least 2 months and in good standing. Contact your mentor liaision for more information.

Tips For Current Mentors:

Plan visits ahead: Relieve the stress of struggling to schedule visits by scheduled visits for the whole month. This will give the teen something to look forward to and it will save the family stress of scheduling.

Contact your Mentor Liaison every month: This will help with the number of calls decreased for you. If you contact us ahead of time, we will not have to catch you at a bad time and it is easier for both parties.

Get more involved in your mentee's life--It's OK!: Get to know your mentee's family or foster family. If you make the next step and start to want to meet the people involved in their life, the relationship will grow. Don't hesitate to call your liaison, their counselor, or family service worker.

Check the Monthly Newsletter for Free Activities in Your area!: Each month, the newsletter features free or inexpensive activites that would be approprite to bring your mentee to enjoy. You'll also see websites listed to do some searching of your own for even more ideas. Always feel free to contact your mentor liaison for help picking out activities.
