Brad Johnson is our mentor of the month. Brad is a mentor with the Governor's Mentoring Initiative in the Chattanooga, Southeast region of Tennessee. Brad has been mentoring his mentee Josh since March 2008. Brad and his mentee clicked at that first meeting, but had a slow start. But now Brad, or Pastor Brad as his is also known, is averaging about 22 hours a month with his kiddo.

Brad is the pastor at Avondale Baptist Church on Highway 58 in Chattanooga, TN. It is great to see Brad and his mentee together, because the two are always cracking up with jokes and generall silliness. Brad is a wonderful role model and the Governor's Mentoring Initiative is lucky to have him. Brad and Josh enjoy eating at Krystal, and Brad enjoys texting Josh, who is normally the one to start conversations with him through text messages.

"I gained a new friend, and aI also have learned about how teenagers just generally don't care about you until you show them you care, then that's when they really start to open up," Brad says.
